Licences, subscriptions and seats
Every licence is a HUD bought in Second Life and worn by your own avatar. This explains which one to buy, how to activate it, how to keep it running, and what each one carries.
Where licences are bought
Two places, and they sell the same things. On the web, the NeuraCore store on the Second Life Marketplace: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/273352
In world, the NeuraCore shop at secondlife://LOVELOCK/16/139/2001. That address only works inside Second Life: paste it into your viewer, not into a browser, where it does nothing.
Two ways to start, and only two
The Free licence is the way in and costs nothing. It gives you a master avatar, yourself, and one seat, which is one other avatar you can control. It never expires and it never has to be renewed. If a free licence is all you ever need, it is yours permanently.
The Initial Licence is the only way into the paid side. Every time subscription refuses until the Initial Licence has been activated, so it is not one of several things you might buy first, it is the first thing you buy. There is no route that skips it.
You claim the free licence once and buy the Initial Licence once. A second attempt at either is refused and tells you so.
Activate it on your main avatar, and nothing else
The free licence and the Initial Licence must both be activated by your main avatar, which is the avatar that will be doing the controlling: your own, the one you log in as, the one you want the others to obey. This is not a recommendation, it is how the licence is issued. Everything you buy afterwards belongs to that avatar.
Activating one on an alt by mistake gives that alt the licence and leaves your main avatar without one, and the two cannot be swapped afterwards, because every seat you go on to buy is bought against the holder. Wear the HUD on the right avatar the first time.
Licences are HUDs, and a HUD is used once
Every licence, free or paid, is an object you wear as a HUD. What you buy is one activation.
A licence you have bought is no-copy and no-modify, and it is transferable, so you can hand an unused one to somebody else or receive one as a gift. It stays new until it is activated.
Once it has been activated it is spent. The object turns red, refuses to do anything else, and stays refused after a script reset, after a region restart and in a new owner’s inventory. It cannot be used again by anybody, so once yours has done its job you may as well delete it.
Activating one
Wear the HUD, click it, and follow what it asks. It contacts the NeuraCore licensing service and registers your avatar, and it tells you in your own language whether it worked.
The Initial Licence asks you one question: which side you want to start on. Individual for six months, or Business for three months. It sets up one seat, ready for an avatar to be put on it.
A time subscription asks you for an avatar name instead, and that answer is the important one. See the next section before you type it.
Back in NeuraCore, Licence → Activation shows what the service says you hold, and Check now asks it again straight away rather than waiting for the next automatic check.
Extending a seat, or adding one
A time subscription buys time, and the name you give it decides where that time goes. There is no option to pick, so the name is the whole of the decision.
To extend a seat you already have, put the avatar you want on that seat first, in Licence → States, and then give the subscription that avatar’s name. The time is added to what the seat already has.
To add a seat, give the subscription the name of an avatar that is not on one yet. A new seat is created for it, carrying the time and the rights you just bought.
Time belongs to the seat and not to the avatar sitting on it, so you can move a different avatar onto a seat later and the remaining time goes with the seat.
Individual or Business, and what happens if you buy both
Both kinds of subscription exist for a week, a month and a year, and they are not interchangeable. Look at the comparison below and buy the one you actually need, because the difference is real features rather than a badge.
You can move up without wasting anything. If you hold Individual time and buy Business time, the Business time starts running and your Individual time is frozen where it stands, not one second of it is spent. When the Business time runs out, the Individual time picks up again with exactly as much left as it had. So an Individual holder who needs Business for a busy month buys a month of Business and loses nothing.
What each licence carries
Business carries everything NeuraCore does. Individual is Business minus the shop features, and Free is Individual minus the money, the world and everything automatic.

If the avatars have to stay up
When NeuraCore is doing something you depend on, a shop with a keeper in it, a support avatar, a role-play sim with NPCs standing in it, buy the year rather than renewing a month at a time, and run it on a server that is online permanently rather than on the computer you use every day.
We can host that server for you. It is not sold online yet, so open a support ticket and ask, and you will be told what is available and what it costs. Support is reached with the free NeuraCore Support HUD in world, which opens the portal at https://support.neuracore.ch for you.
When a subscription is about to run out
NeuraCore reminds you, and NeuraCore is the only thing that does. There is no email and no notice anywhere else, so a reminder only reaches you through the application or through the avatar on your first seat.
How far ahead depends on what you bought: three days before a week runs out, ten days before a month, and a whole month before a year.
During that period NeuraCore opens a small notice each time you start it, saying which seats are about to expire and when. It does not block anything and you can close it and carry on.
The avatar on your first seat also sends you an instant message once a day for the whole of that period, in the language NeuraCore is set to, so a reminder reaches you in Second Life even when the application is not in front of you. If several seats are running out at once, that is one message listing all of them rather than one message each.
States and avatar slots
Licence → States lists the main avatar, every seat, who is on each one and how much time each has left. A seat that has time but nobody on it is flagged, because that is time running down for nothing.
To fill one, choose an avatar and press Apply. It has to be an avatar you have set up with its Second Life UUID in Avatars → Setup, because a seat is issued against a key rather than against a name. Your main avatar is not offered: it holds the licence rather than sitting on a seat.
Changing who is on a seat takes effect at once, and the avatar that was there is disconnected, because it is no longer covered.
When something is outside your licence
Nothing disappears. A tab or a control your licence does not carry stays where it is, and pressing it opens a window that names what you pressed, the licence you are running, and the one that carries it. You are never left wondering whether you missed a setting.
